Miss Marj

Miss Marj started her dance career at age 11, late for a Ballet dancer, but her talent quickly careened her into the world of dance. Ballet classes from the local dance school turned into classes and training from the masters at the National Ballet School in Toronto - Betty Oliphant, Celia Franca, Eric Bruhn, and Lois Smith. Years of intensive study and performance allowed Miss Marj to express her true passion for dance.

Later on, Tap and Jazz were added, studying with Jack Lemmon, George Randolph, Marie Ann Longlade, and Bill Orlowski. Miss Marj has performed countless times on the O'Keefe Centre (now known as Meridan Hall) stage with both the Ballet Company and the Canadian Opera Company.

Having achieved honours in all Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance exams, and the Canadian Dance Teachers Association exams,
Miss Marj knew her future would be teaching and choreography.

Over the years she has choreographed commercials, stage musicals, professional audition routines, and is well known across Canada as an adjudicator for competitions. Miss Marj also ran a very successful studio in Toronto for many years and many of her students established careers as performers and teachers.

Miss Marj has taught in a variety of studios in Toronto and Barrie. Although she is known as a dance veteran, she will not stop teaching, choreographing, and sharing her vast knowledge with those who truly want to dance.

"The joy of teaching is watching a student become a dancer....watching the dancer fulfilling their dream".
